Feeding Services

At Butterfly, we offer specialized feeding therapy for infants and children led by experienced Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs). Our team supports children who face challenges with eating, drinking, chewing, or swallowing due to sensory, motor, behavioral, or medical needs.

Infant & Babies

For babies age 0-1 years, we focus on:

  • Difficulty latching or breastfeeding challenges

  • Bottle refusal or difficulty transitioning between breast and bottle

  • Poor weight gain or failure to thrive

  • Gagging, coughing, or choking during feeding

  • Reflux or excessive spit-up affecting feeding

  • Oral motor weakness or coordination concerns

  • Tongue tie or lip tie (pre- and post-release) support

  • Sensory aversions to touch or textures near the mouth

  • Prolonged mealtimes or fatigue during feeding

  • Transitioning to solids (purees, table, foods, etc.)

Children and Teens

We create individualized, family-centered treatment plans to support mealitme success working closely with families to build positive feeding experiences, improve nutritional intake, and support safe, FUNctional feeding skills in a compassionate, playful and developmentally appropriate way.

Our experienced feeding therapists can help with:

  • Picky eating or extremely limited food variety (food selectivity)

  • Avoidance of certain textures, colors, or temperatures of food

  • Gagging, vomiting, or strong aversions to specific foods

  • Difficulty chewing or managing food in he mouth

  • Behavioral struggles at mealtime (e.g., refusal to sit, tantrums at meals)

  • Feeding delays due to medical conditiosn or developmental differences

  • Oral motor or sensory processing difficulties affecting eating

  • Stress or anxiety around eating and trying new foods
